OBERLIN — A grand jury in Allen Parish indicted an Oberlin man Monday in the June shooting death of a man family members say was his friend.

David Bourg, 48, was indicted on second-degree murder in the shooting death of Michael Pitre, 48, also of Oberlin, according to District Attorney Todd Nesom.

Pitre was found slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle by his brother with a gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities.

Authorities had received a 911 call reporting a shooting on West Tenth Street, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Ricky Johnson said.

Upon arrival officers observed Bourg standing by the rear of a truck parked in the middle of the road with a weapon, Johnson said.

Bourg allegedly pointed the weapon at an officer, then held the gun to his head, he said. Officers heard a snap, but said the gun did not fire.

Bourg then attempted to flee the scene, but was tackled by officers and taken into custody.

The murder was the third for Allen Parish this year and the sixth since April 2013.

The grand jury also indicted Charles Edmond Eaves of LeBlanc for indecent behavior with a juvenile.(MGNonline)
