Man arrested after vehicle pursuit

A Lake Charles man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

Lake Charles police Cpl. Larry Moss said patrol officers were dispatched at about 1:45 p.m. to the area of Lake and West McNeese streets in reference to a report of a stolen vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspected vehicle traveling north on Lake Street. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop using lights and sirens, the suspect fled eastbound on Sale Street and then north onto Ryan Street, Moss said.

The driver, later identified as Cody Davis, 27, continued to drive at a high rate of speed, striking two uninvolved vehicles. The pursuit ended when Davis struck a third vehicle near the intersection of Ryan and Eddy streets. One driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Davis was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice; aggravated flight from an officer; possession of a stolen firearm; possession of stolen things; hit-and-run; careless operation; no driver’s license; and parole detainer.

He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center with no bond.
