Leesville motorcyclist killed in collision

A Leesville motorcyclist was killed in a Thursday two-vehicle crash on La. 27 just north of Houston River Road.

Louisiana State Police spokesperson Trooper Peggy Bourque said the crash claimed the life of 50-year-old Walter Clinton.

Bourque said a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Clinton, was traveling south on La. 27. At the same time, a 2018 Dodge Charger was traveling north on on the same road. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley-Davidson crossed the center line and entered the northbound travel lane, striking the Dodge head-on.

Clinton, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, received fatal injuries and died at the scene, Bourque said.

The occupants of the Dodge were all properly restrained and only the driver received minor injuries.

Standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis, she said.
