On Thursday, April 12th 2018 at approximately 2:15pm, officers with the Lake Charles police Department were dispatched to 2806 Ryan Street, Market Basket, in reference to an auto-pedestrian crash.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a 2014 GMC pick-up was backing out of a parking space and did not see a pedestrian walking behind his vehicle.

As the vehicle backed up it struck the pedestrian, knocking her to the ground and then trapping her under the vehicle.  The Lake Charles Fire Department was called to the scene and used extrication equipment to free the pedestrian from underneath the vehicle.  The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, Corporal Scott Dougherty is the lead investigator
