Jeff Davis planning voter registration drive next week

The Jeff Davis Parish Registrar of Voters in conjunction with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office, will be conducting Voter Registration Week, Aug 28-Sept. 2.

Registrar of Voters Joann Blair said Voter Registration Week is an effort focused on voter registration.

“Jeff Davis Parish residents should make sure they are registered to vote and update their registration as needed before the fall elections,” Blair said.

The election workers will be conducting voter registration drives and offering extended office hours to accommodate voters who are unable to visit the office during regular hours. Extended voter registration hours will be held 4:30-6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28-Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Registrar of Voters Office.

Additional voter registration drives will be held 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Jeff Davis Parish Courthouse, 300 State Street and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 41 at Lyons Market, 1326 N. Cutting Avenue in Jennings.

An open house will also be held at the Registrar of Voters Office 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1.

The voter registration push comes ahead of the Oct. 14 elections, which will include state and local races.

Early voting for the election will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 7, excluding Sunday.
