The Stables at Le Bocage and the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance will present the Lake Area Charity Horse Show and Fun Fest Oct. 27-28 at The Stables at Le Bocage. 2058 E McNeese St.

Sanctioned by the United States Equestrian Federation and the United States Hunter Jumper Association, The Lake Area Charity Horse Show is an “AA” professional horse show the likes of which are rarely showcased in Louisiana, said John Henning, chairman of the Lake Area Charity Horse Show and Fun Fest.

Saturday will open at 9 a.m. and feature a hunter derby and jumping classic showcasing some of the nation’s top equestrian athletes. Throughout the day, patrons can sample from local food trucks as they compete in a “Food Truck War” and local vendors will be present in an exhibitors village selling jewelry, wood work, children’s items and more. VIP ticket holders have ringside seating and will partake in “Tavern Under the Oaks” featuring beer and wine selections and hor d’oeuvres from the area’s most upscale restaurants.

Sunday will open at 10 a.m. with a contemporary Christian church service on the grounds. Riders will continue to compete for top honors in the final events for the derby and jumping competitions. For VIP ticket holders, Chester and Jairus Daigle will be present for “Jazz on the Green” as patrons enjoy fine dining and drinks from local chefs an restaurants.

Each day will also include plenty of action and games for children of all ages, said Henning, including races and obstacles courses. Proceeds from the Lake Area Charity Horse Show will benefit the implementation of “The Leader in Me” program, a school-wide transformation process that teachers leadership and life skills to elementary students, within Lake area schools.
