‘The Zone’ returns for LC Mardi Gras celebration

Special to the American Press

“The Zone,” a family-friendly, alcohol- and tobacco-free area designed for families with children and teens, is returning for another year of Mardi Gras fun.

Now in its 17th year, The Zone will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, along the parade route between Gill Street and Kirby Street, near the Old Historic Courthouse lawn.

“The Zone is a great place for families to stop along the parade route,” said Office of Juvenile Justice Services Director Anthony Celestine. “It’s a designated ‘Safe Spot’ where parents and children can enjoy the Mardi Gras celebrations in a fun and welcoming environment.”

This free event offers a variety of kid-friendly games and activities, including a live DJ, laser tag, a bounce house, mini golf, inflatable sports games, the Bayou Game Truck, activity tents, and train rides. Children can also enjoy complimentary hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, and soft drinks.

For more information about The Zone, contact OJJS Director Anthony Celestine at 337-721-3900.
