Fatal club shooting

One killed, two injured in New Llano

Vernon Parish authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind a Sunday morning shooting that left one man dead at a New Llano nightclub.

According to Sheriff Sam Craft, the shooting took place at The Spot Lounge located on Billy Goat Hill just after midnight Sunday morning. Craft said when deputies arrived at the scene, they found one man dead and two others injured from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the lounge.

The deceased man was identified on Monday as Mark Fernandez Sr., 54, of Leesville. The other two victims, William “Willie” Matz, 38, of Leesville, and Brandon Lemmons, 39, of Anacoco, remain in a local hospital where they are listed in stable condition.

According to Craft, the three men knew each other, but further details have not been released.

Craft told the American Press this is not the first shooting to take place at a nightclub in the Billy Goat Hill area, but that it has been several years since one has occurred.

While several witnesses were at the scene, the sheriff’s office is asking anyone who has further information about the shooting contact Crimestoppers at 239-2233.””fatal shooting graphic
