LSU lands two AP All-Americas
LSU had two players named to The Associated Press preseason All-America team Tuesday.
Both were first-team selections and both, not surprisingly, were on defense.
Devin White made the unit as a linebacker while Greedy Williams was one of the two first-team cornerbacks.
White, who led the Southeastern Conference in tackles last season, was a second-teamer following that season in which he was first team All-SEC after being named the conference’s defensive player of the week four times. He also was the Chuck Bednarik national player of the week following LSU’s comeback victory over Auburn.
Williams, who led the SEC in interceptions as a freshman last season, was a third-team All-American last year. He was first-team All-SEC as earning a spot on the all-freshman team.
Clemson and Wisconsin had the most first-teamers with three apiece, while Wisconsin and Alabama each had five on the first and second teams.
LSU will play 11 of the first- and second-team All-Americans this season — five from Alabama, two from Georgia and Ole Miss and one each from Miami and Mississippi State.
