Louisiana Railroad Days Fest on track for family fun

The Louisiana Railroad Days Festival kicks off in DeQuincy at 5 p.m. tonight with the Frozen T-Shirt and Bizarre Boxcar contests, a style show and pageants. 

The festivities continue at 1 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. DeQuincy Railroad museum tours, carnival rides for all ages, arts and crafts exhibits and fabulous food is always part of the fun.

On Friday, at 3:45 p.m., festival queens, parade marshal, Club Woman of the Year and 2017 Idol Winners will be recognized. The Erwins are gospel music headliners scheduled to begin at 5:45.

Saturday starts with a 5K run. The Railroad Festival Parade begins at 3 p.m. and will move from Nichols at 915 East Fourth St. to the fair grounds, located near the intersection of Pine and Fourth Street.

Enjoy popular musical performances beginning at 1:30 on Saturday. Southwest Jazz is up first. Rosedown Rockers go on stage at 3 p.m. Rusty Metoyer and Zydeco Crush are scheduled for 5 p.m. and Gyth Riddon opens for headliner Collin Raye. Raye is known for popular hits “Anyone Else,” “Someone You Used to Know “and “One Boy, One Girl.”

 Free admission. 

 No alcohol allowed.
