Sulphur PD investigate vehicle fatality

SULPHUR — According to Chief of Police Lewis Coats, on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at approximately 3:24 PM, Sulphur Police Department received a call of a single vehicle crash near Hwy marker 24, I-10 east bound.

Initial investigation revealed that Codie Aguillard, age 30, of Lake Charles, Louisiana was traveling eastbound on I-10 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. 

Aguillard, was pronounced decease at the scene and was transported to the Coroner’s Office in Lake Charles. 

Ronald Jasper Romero, Age 22, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance with moderate injuries.

Officers AJ Powell and Matt Gaspard of the Sulphur Police Department are investigating this case.

This is the third traffic fatality of 2018 in Sulphur.
