All the rain has made grass mowing a challenge. Be prepared to cut your yard when you can. Keep the right belt, pulleys, filters and blades on hand. The place to find exactly what you need is Belts Plus.

Belts Plus is the only place of its kind in Southwest Louisiana, and the location is easy to find at 600 South Martin Luther King Highway/510 South Highway 171 in Lake Charles.

“New customers are surprised to find we carry a complete line of lawnmower parts, including blades, idler pulleys, spindles, tires, tubes, air and oil filters,” said Belts Plus Manager Melvin Thibodeaux. “We do advise customers to bring in old blades when they come in to get new ones. When I started in this business over 30 years ago, we carried maybe three lines of lawn mower blades. I don’t know how many we carry now, maybe hundreds. We have blades to fit every mower I can think of.”

Specialty car wash and detailing products

Car wash owners, new and used auto dealers and customers particular about the look and smell of their autos count on Belts Plus for complete car cleaning, polishing and detailing products.

“Household cleaners will work, but they weren’t created to keep autos looking their best,” said Thibodeaux. “We’re the statewide distributor for Malco. We have bulk and retail wash and wax products, including specialty truck wash, car waxes, polishes and buffing compounds.”

Malco products are formulated to remove tar, wax and grease. The mutli-purpose non-phosphate citrus cleaner is non-caustic, aluminum safe and biodegradeable. Malco offers products especially for cleaning whitewalls and another for mag and aluminum wheels. Interior products help eliminate oil and water-based stains and protect fabric upholstery and carpet. Another cleans and conditions leather. The enzyme cleaner uses pro-microbial action to enhance cleaning and provide long-lasting odor control. Glass cleaners cling to glass for cleaning ease and contain no ammonia.

“Using household ammonia products have been known to streak, fog and mess up auto glass tinting,” said Thibodeaux.

And of course Belts Plus carries thousands of belts, belts for autos, vacuum cleaners, washers, dryers, VCRs, residential and commercial mowers, tractors, four-wheelers, sewing machines, oil field equipment, combines – and the list goes on.

“Our belts come directly from the factory, which allows our prices to be very competitive,” Thibodeaux said. “We also have a line of cast iron pulleys.”

Belts Plus got is start in 1985, according to owner Rawlin Stewart. Like any successful business, customer service is key. Our customers want what they want when they want it.”

“On the rare occasion that Belts Plus does not have a belt or part in stock, it can usually be picked up the next day,” Thibodeaux said.
