Disturbance call leads to police pursuit

News Release

On 09-12-18 Lake Charles Police responded to a call from a dispatcher at a cab company saying that a female was calling asking for a Taxi Cab trying to get away from a subject that was hitting her. She was on her phone behind the Dollar Store at the corner of Aster St. and Prien Lake Rd. The dispatcher said she could hear the female yelling stop hitting me. The dispatcher also advised that the female said the suspect was in a black Volvo driving around looking for her.

When officers arrived to Aster and Prien they did see a subject in a black Volvo. The subject, upon seeing officers, fled in his vehicle. Police attempted to stop the subject using emergency vehicle lighting but the vehicle failed to stop. A pursuit ensued going through several neighborhoods ending up where it began. Once the vehicle did stop the suspect fled on foot but was apprehended in the 3100 block of Aster St.

During the pursuit two Lake Charles Police units were damaged. There were no reported injuries.

Arrested was James Lyons, age 30.

Charges at this time are: Aggravated flight from an officer, Possession of Marijuana, No Driver’s License, and No insurance.

The victim of the battery also fled the scene and has not contacted police.””Police cruiser stock
