Auto-pedestrian Fatality

News Release

On the evening of Tuesday April 17, 2018 at approximately 9:07pm, officers of the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Louisiana Highway 14 and Broad Street, in reference to a crash.  The officers investigation revealed that a Hispanic male, later identified as 36 year old Noel Velasco Hernandez, was crossing Highway 14 when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Murano.  The Nissan Murano was traveling north on Hwy 14 at the time of the impact.  The pedestrian was near the middle of the roadway when he was struck.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured during the crash, standard toxicology test were provided.  Mr. Hernandez was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is being investigated by Corporal Kirk Dugas and Sgt. Sammy Kingsley.  ””Auto-Pedestrian CrashAmerican Press composite
