Sulphur pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle

According to Chief of Police Lewis Coats, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Sulphur Police Department sadly learned that Mr. Mitchell LeBlanc who was struck by a vehicle in Sulphur has died. Chief Coats sends his condolences to the LeBlanc family.

Initial investigation revealed that on September 19, 2018, Mitchell LeBlanc, age 53, of Sulphur, Louisiana was struck by a vehicle while crossing Hwy 90 at the intersection of Crocker Street.

Further investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was traveling below the posted speed limit of 30 miles per hours and was still unable to avoid striking Mr. LeBlanc. No violations were issued.

LeBlanc was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Lake Charles Memorial with serious injuries. 

Officers AJ Powell and Matt Gaspard of the Sulphur Police Department are investigating this case.

This is the fourth traffic fatality of 2018 in Sulphur.
