McNeese homecoming activities kick off Monday

McNeese State University’s 2023 homecoming week “Pokechella” is happening Oct. 23-28. Students, alumni and Cowboy fans are welcome to participate in the many campus activities taking place throughout the week.

On Monday, Oct. 23, students can have one parking ticket under $25 forgiven for Amnesty Day. The Student Government Association sponsors this popular event which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Lajeunesse room and 3-6 p.m. in the Lajeunesse room, Hardtner Hall and Doland Field House.

Also on Monday, students are invited to spend the evening at Lake Area Adventures with no charge from 5-9 p.m. Students can enjoy the arcade, virtual reality arena, airpark, gamers lounge and a high ropes course.

Pokechella Fest will rock the quad on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 5-8 p.m. Students will enjoy music, art, food, face painting, henna tattoos, airbrush t-shirts and caricatures.

The messiest, muddiest student tradition, the Oozeball tournament, continues Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 3-7 p.m. on Frasch Hall’s front lawn. Students can register a team to participate.

The homecoming parade will roll down Ryan Street on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. This year’s parade marshal is Dennis Stine, a McNeese graduate and CEO of Stine Lumber Co. After the parade, all are invited to the homecoming pep rally inside Cowboy Stadium to cheer on the Cowboys for the homecoming game.

On Friday, Oct. 27, all students can enjoy the Greek Picnic from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the quad. There will be free food and many fun activities.

Friday night, students and Cowboy fans are invited to the Cowboy Block Party at Alumni Pavilion at 7 p.m. to enjoy a musical performance by LA Roxx. Entrance is free.

The student tailgate begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, on the east side of the Legacy Center.

The homecoming game will follow the tailgate beginning at 7 p.m. at Cowboy Stadium where the McNeese Cowboys will face off against Northwestern State Demons.
