<div class="Content"><p class="indent">WELSH — A traveling dress, which is making its way across the U.S., recently made a stop in Jeff Davis Parish where it was photographed at the scenic Lorraine Bridge.

<p class="indent">Jamie Lee of Jamie Lee Photography in Welsh is among 11 photographers participating in the project including those from Oklahoma, Ohio, Tennessee, Idaho, Maine, Florida, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Missouri.

<p class="indent">“We each got the dress for one week to use in a shoot,” Lee said.

<p class="indent">Lee received the dress from a photographer in Florida and will be sending it to a photographer in Wisconsin.

<p class="indent">“It’s been fun seeing the dress travel around and being able to connect and talk to photographers from all over,” she said.

<p class="indent">Lee came across the dress project on one of her Facebook photographer’s social media sites and thought it sounded like fun.

<p class="indent">The project began this summer in Ohio by Jessie Richendollar of JRD Photography and has been making its way across the country.

<p class="indent">“She had posted about the traveling dress and asked each photographer to take a turn doing their own photo shoot with the dress,” Lee said.

<p class="indent">Each photographer has a week with the dress to do a photo shoot of their choosing at their favorite spot before sending the dress on to the next photographer.

<p class="indent">Lee chose the historic Lorraine Bridge near Hayes as her spot. Her 15-year-old daughter Bella, a sophomore at Welsh High School, was the model.

<p class="indent">“I decided to do the Lorraine Bridge because it is one of my favorite locations for shooting,” she said. “I know it has been photographed a lot, but it is one of my favorites and represents the swamp area.”

<p class="indent">She said other photographers were doing scenic shoots with mountains, beaches, sunflower fields and rivers.

<p class="indent">“I noticed a lot of the photographers were doing water shots with the dress in the water, but when we got there, there was a six-foot alligator in the water and she wouldn’t get in,” she said.

<p class="indent">Instead Lee shot Bella on the wooden bridge crossing Bayou Lacassine and sitting among the Cypress knees along the bayou’s edge bordering Jeff Davis and Calcasieu parishes.

<p class="indent">Working with her daughter is something Lee enjoys doing.

<p class="indent">“She’s 15 and not going to be with us much longer after she goes off to college, but I know when she gets older she will enjoy the photographs more and be glad to have all the memories,” she said. “She and her friends get annoyed with me because I’m always taking photos of them.”

<p class="indent">Richendollar will post photos of the traveling dress on her blog once the project is completed and share them on her social media pages, Lee said.

<p class="indent">Lee has been taking photographs for 10 years, specializing in family and senior portraits.
