What is the best game involving an area large school?

WA: Northwest at Lake Charles College Prep. The Blazers shook off a sluggish first half against Erath last week, overcoming a 14-0 first half deficit in a 28-14 win. This week they face Northwest QB Montaze Sam, who ran for 383 yards and five TD’s in the Raiders 46-39 win over Berwick.

RA: Assumption at Leesville. Leesville is trying to reach the quarterfinals since 2000 and will host the team that knocked them out that season. Assumption has a three year starter at quarterback in Tijah Parker and a Nicholls State commitment free safety that Leesville quarterback Jacob Mount will have to watch out for.

What is the most interesting game with an area small school?

WA: Jonesboro-Hodge at Oberlin. The Tigers have lost in the regional round six straight seasons. J-Hodge has scored 48 or more points five times this season, including 52 last week. Oberlin has held seven opponents to singledigit point totals with three shutouts, including one over Northwood-Lena last week.

RA: Rosepine at DeQuincy. It’s another District 5-2A rematch. DeQuincy beat district rival East Beauregard 25-0 last week to make up for a regular season loss and will face a team this week that beat them 54-32 in Week 9. Rosepine can rack up a pile of yards and points in a hurry, so it will be up the Tigers’ defense, who are coming off their third shutout of the season, to slow down the Eagles give the offense good field position.

Name a player to watch.

WA: Leesville RB D’ante Gallashaw has three straight games with more than 100 yards rushing, including 144 yards and 2 touchdowns last week. He has 1,126 yards and 8 TDs on the season. He keeps the chains moving and allow the Wampus Cats to make big plays on play-action passes and reverses.

RA: Iota’s backfield tandem of Luke Doucet and Kollin Guillory. The duo has combined for more than 2,300 yards and 34 touchdowns. At 215-pounds, Doucet bulls his way through opposing defenses, while Guillory uses his speed and great balance to stay on his feet. Both are capable of long runs which could lead to a long night for Baker this week.
