LC couple finances home with Oxycodone sales

Facing up to 20 years in prison, $1 million fine

A Lake Charles couple who admitted selling Oxycodone pills to finance the construction of their $600,000 home are facing up to 20 years prison and a $1 million fine, authorities said.

U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph said John Homer Legros Jr. and his wife, Veronica Gray Legros, both 39, each pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

Joseph said John Legros sold 100 Oxycodone pills on May 19, 2016, and 95 Oxycodone pills on June 16, 2016.

Then in September, he gave Veronica Legros 100 Oxycodone pills with instructions to deliver and sell them to a contact on his behalf.

Joseph said John Legros then asked co-defendant Billy Winbush, 41, of Lake Charles to sell 100 Oxycodone pills the following October.

“During this investigation, law enforcement discovered that Legros was financing the construction of a house that appraised at $600,000 with the drug sale proceeds,” Joseph said. “As a result, the property is being forfeited to the United States.”

Joseph said the defendants face up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a $1 million fine.

Winbush pleaded guilty on Jan. 14 to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

All three defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on May 9.””oxycodone https://www.flickr.com/photos/cindyshebley/38555203775Cindy Shebley/flickr.com
