Registered sex offender arrested for 1st degree rape

<p class="p1">Lake Charles, LA – Earlier today the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested registered sex offender, Jeremy K. Laird, 41, 1740 6<span class="s1"><sup>th</sup></span> Avenue<span class="s2">,</span> Lot # 17, Lake Charles, after an investigation revealed he had inappropriate sexual contact with a 14 year old girl.  During the investigation the victim advised detectives the incident happened on two separate occasions in 2017. </p><p class="p2">After further investigation Laird was arrested and booked in the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1<sup>st</sup> degree rape; and sexual battery.  Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $200,000.</p><p class="p3">Laird was convicted of carnal knowledge of juvenile in 1999. </p><p class="p2">CPSO Detective Monte Gentry is the lead investigator on this case.</p>””<p>Jeremy Laird of Lake Charles  and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center</p>
