Single suspect arrested in weekend shooting, robbery of Jennings man

Police still searching for second suspect

JENNINGS – One of two suspects wanted in connection with the weekend shooting and robbery of a Jennings man was apprehended late Tuesday after leaving a local motel.

Jalawrence Daneal White, 21, Jennings was arrested in the backseat of a vehicle police had been following.

White was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder; armed robbery; aggravated assault with a firearm; possession of marijuana and contempt of court.

A second suspect, Dandre Nixon, 23, of Crowley, remains at large.

Several other individuals including White’s girlfriend were arrested on drug-related charges and police seized several weapons and narcotics, according to Police Chief Danny Semmes.

“To date we have executed more than six search warrants as a result of the investigation and made numerous arrests for other crimes and seized six weapons and numerous narcotics,” Semmes said. “We have also been able to get quite a few drugs and weapons off the street as a result of the investigation.”

After posting the suspects’ photos on social media Wednesday police received several calls from people who had seen White in and around Jennings, Semmes said. The information also indicated that White may be with his girlfriend Aneliya Lampkin.

Officers began checking local hotels and located Lampkin’s vehicle at a local motel.

Officers set up surveillance of the motel, but were unable to determine what room Lampkin was in, Semmes said.

Around 10:30-11 p.m., officers saw White leave the motel room and approach a vehicle which had pulled into the parking lot. The vehicle was occupied by three other male subjects.

White got into the vehicle and left the motel, Semmes said. Officers followed the vehicle to the area of South Main and Madison streets where the vehicle was stopped.

A front seat passenger later identified as Ian Kelly fled the scene.

Kelly was later apprehended at an abandoned house on Madison Street.

He was in possession of a 45-caliber handgun, a sawed off shotgun, ecstasy and marijuana.

Other narcotics and a hotel room key to another motel were also found inside the vehicle.

A search warrant was issued for the second motel where Lampkin was located. She was in possession of several grams of heroin, ecstasy and marijuana.

Police also found a 357-magnum handgun during a search of Lampkin’s vehicle.

A search for Nixon is continuing.

“We are working with every local agency in the surrounding area to try to find him and will soon seek assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Office in locating him,” Semmes said.

Nixon should be considered armed and dangerous, he said.

Anyone with information on Nixon’s whereabouts are asked to contact Jennings police at 821-5513.
