LCPD: Ice pick stabbing after fight breaks out in car

A Lake Charles woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a passenger in the vehicle she was traveling inside with an ice pick.

Lake Charles Police Lt. Brenda Treadway said officers were contacted early Wednesday afternoon about a stabbing near the intersection of 12th Street and 8th Avenue.

She said during the course of the investigation it was found that three people were in a vehicle traveling on the roadway when a physical altercation occurred between two of the individuals.

One of the occupants in the vehicle involved in the disturbance produced an ice pick and began striking another occupant, Treadway said. She was later identified as 28-year-old Joyce Grace.

Grace has been charged with aggravated second-degree battery.

Treadway said the victim was transported to an undisclosed medical facility for non-life threatening injuries.
