Father, son arrested in Valentine’s Day shooting

A father and his son have been arrested in a Valentine’s Day shooting that occurred in Moss Bluff after a domestic disturbance.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies responded to reports of a shooting just after noon Feb. 14 at a home on John Belle Road.

Vincent said when deputies arrived they were told Glenn A. Duhon Jr., 42, had been involved in a domestic disturbance with his father, Glenn A. Duhon Sr., 66. During the dispute, Duhon Jr. damaged his father’s vehicle, shot himself, then fled the scene.

His father is who called 911 after disposing of the gun in nearby woods, Vincent said.

“Deputies immediately began searching for Duhon Jr., using numerous CPSO resources and assets and CPSO Violent Crimes detectives were called to the scene for further investigation,” she said.

During a search of the home, detectives found a modified shotgun, Vincent said.

Deputies located Duhon Jr.,  later that same day and transported him to a local hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.

Detectives arrested Duhon Sr. for obstruction of justice and possession or dealing in unregistered or illegal transferred firearms. He also had an active warrant for possession of marijuana. Judge Kendrick Guidry set his bond at $17,000.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Duhon Jr.and he was arrested on Tuesday after he was released from the hospital. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; battery of a dating partner; and simple criminal damage to property less than $1,000.
