CYT will present ‘Seussical Jr.’

Shows are set for Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m., at Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning on Enterprise Boulevard.

When it comes to Dr. Seuss characters, everyone seems to have their favorites whether it’s Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, or even the Grinch. And don’t forget Yertle the Turtle and Gertrude McFuzz.

All of those characters and more are in the cast of “Seussical Jr.,” a musical which will be performed by local Christian Youth Theatre students. Shows are set for Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m., at Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning on Enterprise Boulevard.

Follow the story of Horton in this colorful, energetic, and imaginative production in which the Cat in the Hat is the narrator through all of Horton’s adventures.

Joy Pace is the director of CYT’s musical and Amanda Ericson is artistic director.

Some of the main characters in the production include Jaylin Williams, as Cat in the Hat; Cole Becton, Horton the Elephant; Zoe Lebeau and Elisabeth Pettefer, Gertrude McFuzz; Elizabeth Campbell, Yertle the Turtle, and Jadah Mann, the Grinch.

Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased online at www.cytlakecharles.org. Ticket prices are $12, adults, and $10 for children under 13, seniors, and members of the military.

CYT is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages 4-8. CYT is one of the largest youth theater programs in the nation, with affiliates across the country.
