Rain Totals Forecast.pngNWS Lake Charles

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles continues the flash flood watch for our entire region.

We are expecting 2 to 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts of 6 to 8 inches, now through Saturday.

The heaviest rain will be from late tonight through Saturday morning in southeast Texas and western Louisiana.Expected River Flooding.pngNWS Lake Charles

In areas where the heaviest rain falls, expect to see street flooding. In addition, due to the heavy rain, we are expecting most of the rivers in southeast Texas to flood, as well as several rivers in Louisiana over the next week.Severe Weather Potential.pngNWS Lake Charles

In addition to the heavy rain and flood threat, there is a small 5% chance for severe storms, including tornadoes, from late tonight in southeast Texas, to across the I-10 corridor of southwest and south central Louisiana on Saturday.

Tides will run above normal through midday Saturday, so minor coastal flooding is possible, especially during periods of high tides.

By late Saturday into Sunday, when the winds shift to the northwest, tides will run below normal, and may cause problems for shipping interests in the Sabine-Neches and Calcasieu waterways.
