Church hosting Artisan’s Fair Christmas in July

SULPHUR — Original art, wreaths, scented oils and homemade jellies are just a few of the items planned for this weekend’s Artisan’s Fair Christmas in July, an annual charity fundraiser in Sulphur.

Buyers can choose from a selection of household items and handmade merchandise, including crocheted and knitted pieces, lotions, soaps and baked goods.

The fair will run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2700 Maplewood Drive. It’s the seventh annual Christmas in July event for Catholic Daughters Court 1980.

Spokeswoman Cindy Vincent said proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the court’s charities, which include New Life Counseling and the local seminarians.

She said “a hodgepodge of people” come out each year to sell their handcrafted goods.

“We always have one-of-a-kind items,” Vincent said. “We get great participation from our vendors, and we continue to grow every year.”

Admission is free, and lunch will be available both days. There will also be a door prize for a $100 Walmart gift cart.
