Sowela transition in Oakdale

New sign unveiled at open house

Central Louisiana Technical Community College officially handed over the keys to its former Oakdale campus Thursday afternoon to Sowela Technical Community College.

Sowela acquired the site from the college on July 1, said Darlene Hoffpauir, Sowela’s institutional advancement coordinator.

The move was part of a statewide realignment of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System to improve administrative efficiency and delivery of instructional and workforce training, Hoffpauir said.

“The Oakdale campus has been a respected educational partner in the Allen Parish region for decades and I am confident the skills and talent of the Oakdale staff will be a great asset to Sowela,” chancellor Neil Aspinwall said.

The Oakdale campus will offer classes in business administration, criminal justice, forest technology, industrial instrumentation, practical nursing and welding technology.
