Learn to Drive the Bus class scheduled for next week

The Calcasieu Parish School Board will host a preservice training and behind-the-wheel training for substitute school bus drivers beginning next week.

School bus drivers play a critical role in the success of students, and they have a tremendous impact each and every day, said spokesperson Holly Holland.

This course is an important step in becoming a driver in the district, as it is required by both the Louisiana Department of Education and the School Board policy for all who want to become a certified Louisiana substitute school bus driver.

An application can be picked up at the Personnel Office of the Calcasieu Parish School Board between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office closes for lunch from 12 -12:45 p.m. Attendees are asked to dress comfortably for all trainings, as some days will include hands-on training with the bus.

The Personnel Office and Transportation Department, where the classes will be held, are both located at 3310 Broad St. in Lake Charles. The training class schedule is included below.

January 24- 27 : 5-9 p.m.

January 29 (Saturday): 8 a.m. -4 p.m.
