DeRidder suspect turns himself in

<p class="indent">A DeRidder man wanted for attempted murder turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.</p><p class="indent">Deputy Police Chief Christopher Rudy said that 49-year-old Ricky Calloway turned himself in to the DeRidder Police Department at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday night after a family member brought him to the department.</p><p class="indent">Rudy said that Calloway showed up at the family member’s home some time on Wednesday.</p><p class="indent">In addition to the charge of Attempted First Degree Murder, Calloway was also charged with Aggravated Arson by the Louisiana State Fire Marshall’s Office.</p><p class="indent">Calloway has been wanted by DeRidder police since early Tuesday morning when they say Calloway drove his Chevrolet Suburban into the home of his ex-wife.</p><p class="indent">After a failed attempt to run over two other occupants of the home who had walked outside after the initial collision, Rudy said Calloway move his vehicle to the outside of a bedroom area where his ex-wife was sleeping and poured gasoline over the vehicle and set it on fire.</p><p class="indent">“He said everyone was going to die. He then lit the car on fire and fled the scene,” Rudy stated.</p><p class="indent">The fire was extinguished by the DeRidder Fire Department and no injuries were reported, Rudy said.</p><p class="indent">Calloway’s bond for the Attempted Murder is set at $350,000.</p><p class="indent">The bond for the additional arson charge was not released as of Wednesday night. He remains in the Beauregard Parish Jail.</p>””Arrested Ricky Calloway
