Last week, 8-year-old Drake Quibodeaux of Vinton made a simple request for Christmas cards. His request was met with more than 5,000 cards and packages from people across the nation — including country singer Tim McGraw.

Quibodeaux was diagnosed earlier this year with Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), which is an inoperable brain tumor. He is receiving chemotherapy six times a month to prevent the cancer from spreading.

When asked what he wanted for Christmas this year, Drake told his mother, Danielle, he wanted Christmas cards. The cards have been pouring in since his story appeared in several local and national news outlets. Posts on social media have become viral.

On Monday, a U.S. Postal Service vehicle stopped by Drake’s home filled with boxes of Christmas cards and packages.

GoFundMe pages have also been set up to help Drake and his family attend both the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona on Jan. 1 and visit "Disney World as soon as possible."

All extra money donated will help pay Drake’s medical expenses.
