Counterfeit bills used in Lake Arthur
LAKE ARTHUR — Lake Arthur police are investigating a case of counterfeit money that was received by a local resident who sold a firearm to another person.
Police Chief Kobi Turner said the seller received $800 in fake currency.
“The money did not make it’s way into the stores, but we want people to be on the look out particularly when selling items and accepting cash,” Turner said.
The bills involved in the case had the word “replica” written on them, he said.
Turner urges anyone who handles cash to take the time to examine the bills closely.
Residents can go to their local bank for assistance in helping to identify fake currency.
