WESTLAKE — The City Council on Monday approved the promotion of six police officers and the hiring of two part-time officers.
Curtis Lyons and Vinson Johnson were promoted to detective. Both Justin Guillotte and Jason Royer were promoted to senior corporal. Jason O’Rourke was promoted to sergeant and Thomas Richmond was promoted to lieutenant. All promotions are retroactive to July 1.
Jason Dore and Zachary Phillip Parrish were hired as part-time officers.
Police Chief Chris Wilrye also introduced new reserve officer Timothy Manning and his drug dog Max.
Wilrye said a newly hired dispatcher recently responded to a crash on the curve of Hudson Avenue that led to the arrest of a “known biker gang member from Houston.”
Twenty grams of marijuana, three pints of promethazine syrup, 42 Xanax tablets, a pistol, and small amounts of other drugs were found, he said, and two people were arrested.
“It was a pretty big pop for us,” Wilrye said. “We made the Law Enforcement Times, which is a pretty big deal for us.”
