For those who want to surround themselves with the sounds of Christmas, the Louisiana Choral Foundation’s concert, "Angels of the Light," may be just what they are looking for.

The concert will be presented at two different venues.

The first will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles and the second will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Immaculate Conception Church in Sulphur.

Masterworks Chorale will perform Randoll Bass’ "Festival Magnificat," accompanied by Sulphur High School advanced girl’s choir and Lex Petites Voix, the community children’s choir.

The girl’s choir is directed by Molly Jones and Les Petites Voix is directed by Kari Proksch.

The centerpiece of the concert will be "Snow Angel," by Canadian composer Sarah Quartel. In Quartel’s words, " ‘Snow Angel’ is an evocative five-movement choral work that explores themes of love, rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them, yearning to make a difference to their lives."

There will be three narrators, with each representing their perspectives on their earthly charges.

Guest cellist Susan Morton will join the group for this selection.

"Carols of Central and South America" and "Carols of North America," arranged by Mark Hayes, will be the final selections.

The concert will conclude with the traditional "O Holy Night."

Tickets are $15 for adults and are available at Swicegood Music or through Masterworks Chorale members. There is no charge for children, as well as students who have an identification card.
