In this edition of the Three Point Stance, staff writers Rodrick Anderson and Warren Arceneaux review Week 2 of the high school football season.

Who is your small school player of the week?

WA: I will cheat and take the whole Oberlin defense, which shut out its opponent for a second consecutive week in a 26-0 win over Delcambre. The Tigers have opened the season by outscoring their first two opponents 48-0.

RA: Hard to go with just one this the after the performances of Vinton running back Jordan Janice and Rosepine quarterback Seth Ducote. Janice rushed for 224 yards for the second consecutive week. He scored three touchdowns to bring his season total to eight as the Lions beat Highland Baptist 57-13. Ducote rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries and threw for 116 yards, including a 64 yard score to Josh Cummings.

Who is your large school player of the week?

WA: DeRidder’s Jalyn Thurman came off the bench to score two touchdowns in the final 3:23 of DeRidder’s 45-44 win over Washington-Marion, including a 13-yard scoring run as time expired.

RA: Sam Houston junior wide receiver Tavyen Grice posted his second 100-yard receiving game in as many weeks. This time he caught seven passes for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Barbe running backs Zene Chretien and Dylan Lewis also had big games, combining for four touchdowns and 302 yards in a 44-0 win over Riverside Academy.

Which area team had the most impressive win?

WA: Lake Charles College Prep came back from a 14-0 halftime deficit to beat Rayne and improve to 2-0. Edwin Gomez drilled a field goal in the final minute to give the Trail Blazers the win.

RA: Class 2A member De-Quincy upsest 4A Grant 41-0. Junior quarterback Cooper Hext led the way with four rushing touchdowns and two passing. He ran for 207 yards on nine carries and completed 5 of 19 passes for 129 yards. It was a much-needed win for the Tigers after losing a 22-21 heartbreaker to Westlake in Week 1.
