Capital One Tower to come down in September
The Hertz Towner — formerly known as the Capital One Tower — is a privately owned company that is currently undergoing demolition.
The tower, minus the atrium and skywalk, will be demolished Saturday morning, Sept. 7, with a controlled implosion that will take the tower down to four or five stories, according to officials who spoke at a Tuesday 2 p.m. news conference at Lake Charles City Hall.
Total cleanup, which will result in a development-ready site, will take 90 days after the controlled explosion.
More details to come as available.
