Body found in Cameron Parish

No cause of death known at this time

<p class="indent">The body of a woman was found Wednesday morning on Sweetlake Camp Road in Cameron Parish, authorities said.</p><p class="indent">Sheriff Ron Johnson said although there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, law enforcement was investigating the case as a homicide.</p><p class="indent">Johnson said it appeared the body had been at that location for less than 24 hours.</p><p class="indent">He said a school bus driver spotted the body in tall grass along the shoulder of the road around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.</p><p class="indent">“It (body) appears to be a younger white female, slender in size,” Johnson said. “We do not know what the cause of death is at this time, but we are optimistic we will get identification of this person.” Johnson said the body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office so an autopsy could be performed.</p><p class="indent">“We have no reports of any missing person in Cameron Parish or the surrounding areas at this time,” Johnson said.</p><p class="indent">He said there are no indications the death could be connected to a previous incident in March in which the head of a woman was found south of Hackberry.</p><p class="indent">A reconstruction of a woman’s face was done but the identify of that person is still unknown.</p><p class="indent">Anyone with additional information on the body found Wednesday, or if a person knows of someone who is missing, they should call the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office at 775-5111.</p>””Body Found – river
