Cameron voters approve four bond issues

Cameron Parish approved four bond issues during the Nov. 5 election.

More than 80 percent of Precinct 4 voters, or 480 votes, approved the renewal of a Hackberry Fire Protection District No. 1 tax. The  10-year, 4.71 mill bond issue is estimated to generate $608,646.

Seventy-seven percent of voters in Precinct 4, garnering 455 votes, also approved the renewal of the Gravity Drainage District No. 9 10-year, 4.50 mill bond issue, which is estimated to generate $581,509.

Nearly 70 percent of Cameron voters in Precincts 13, 15 and 16B — or 93 votes total — voted for a special tax continuation of a $219,755.10 15.33 mill bond issue for South Cameron Consolidated Waterworks District No. 1.

Precinct 9 voters approved a $58,089, 16-mill bond issues in-lieu of a 8.16 mill bond issue for Fire Protection District No. 15 with 70 votes, or 74 percent.

In the Louisiana 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal for the 2nd District in the nonpartisan primary election, 68 percent of voters favored Judge Clayton Davis. Davis received 2,150 votes over Anthony Eaves, who received 617 votes, or 19 percent.

An overwhelming majority of Cameron voters cast their ballots for former President Donald Trump in the presidential election, with 93 percent of votes. Trump received 3,119 votes. Vice President Kamala Harris received 219 votes, or 7 percent.

Cameron voters also favored U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins in his re-election campaign. Higgins garnered 2,963 votes in Cameron, or 91 percent.

Voters favored Constitutional amendment No. 1 by a vote of 2,586 , or 81 percent.
