Attempted murder suspect sought

A manhunt is underway for a DeRidder man who authorities said tried to kill his ex-wife and two others on Tuesday.

Ricky Calloway, 49, is wanted for attempted first-degree murder after authorities said he drove his Chevorlet Suburban into his ex-wife’s home on Patton Street just after midnight Tuesday morning.

Deputy Police Chief Christopher Rudy said that after the initial collision, two occupants of the home exited the residence to see what had happened and Calloway attempted to run them over with his vehicle.

After missing the occupants, Rudy said Calloway parked his vehicle in front of a bedroom area of the home where his ex-wife was sleeping and began pouring gasoline over the vehicle.

“He was shouting that everyone was going to die. He then lit the vehicle on fire and fled the scene,” Rudy said.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the DeRidder Fire Department, and there were no injuries reported from the incident, Rudy said.

An arrest warrant has been signed by Judge C. Kerry Anderson, with a bond set at $350,000.

Rudy told the American Press police had previously been called to the residence at about 5:30 p.m. Monday for a disturbance involving Calloway, but Calloway had left the scene before officers arrived.

Calloway was last arrested in August 2016 for drug charges and public intoxication. He was released on probation April 11. His arrests before August consist of DWI in 2014 and drug possession in 2015.

Anyone with information regarding Calloway’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact detectives at 462-8911.””Manhunt in search of Ricky Calloway
