Fat Boyz Kitchen Table, Luna Bar and Grill among the ‘best’

Two Southwest Louisiana restaurants have been rated “best” by America — Fat Boyz Kitchen Table and Luna Bar and Grill.

Fat Boyz made the America’s Best Restaurant final cut after being nominated by locals, according to owner, cook and chief bottle washer Richard Cole. The national media company brings attention to local, independently-owned restaurants.

The Westlake Monday-through-Friday lunch spot serves home-cooked plate lunches seasoned just right with mainstays like country-fried steak and beef tips. For $15, tax included, consumers get a meal and a drink that Cole said “most people can get two meals out of.”

Vegetables are cooked down the old-fashioned, flavorful way with bacon and onions, he said.

Luna Bar & Grill’s Ryan Street location will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants this week.

“America’s Best found us through our awards and accomplishments,” said Dave Evans, owner of Luna’s, which has a downtown and South Lake Charles location. “We are super proud to be chosen by them and can’t wait to see how the visit turns out.”
