BREAKING: Soileau appointed Allen Parish superintendent

Brad Soileau has been appointed as the new superintendent of Allen Parish schools.

The School Board had been deadlocked for the past two months between Soileau, who is currently the Secondary Supervisor of Instruction and Assessment, and Child Welfare, Attendance and Transportation Supervisor Kenny Courville. Courville withdrew his application Thursday.

On Monday, the board voted unanimously to name Soileau to the position. He will succeed Superintendent Kent Reed, who retired in June after nearly 40 years in the school system.

Soileau, 46, has worked for the Allen Parish school system for over 23 years as a principal, assistant principal, teacher, district testing coordinator and supervisor of instruction and assessment. He briefly served as an education coordinator and principal at the Raymond Labored Correctional Facility in Cottonport.
