Comedy, four-course dinner, music part of Foundation event

If you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to get a little glammed up and dance the night away, the “On the Town” celebration Friday evening should fill the bill.

The Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial is putting on the event, which will take place 7-11 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at L’Auberge Casino Resort.

Featuring an open bar and four-course dinner, cocktail attire is requested.

Musical entertainment will include Chapter One performing Motown Gold as well as Leif Pedersen’s 1944 Big Band and a performance by comedian Pete Barbutti.

Multi-faceted, Pedersen helps to run the Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital by day and performs with his band by night. Favorite tunes from the Big Band-era will be on tap at the “On the Town” event.

As for Motown Gold, you’ll be right at home if you like dancing or singing along to songs made famous by The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, and the Temptations.

Some may remember Barbutti from his multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” 1971-1992. Barbutti continues to perform stand-up comedy and also plays the piano and accordion. He often performs his routine of sound effects on the accordion for audiences, including a train whistle, Niagara Falls, mosquitoes, thunder, and more.

Tickets are $125 per person and all tax-deductible proceeds benefit The Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial.

Advanced tickets can be purchased online at www.lcmh.com/onthetown.
