Golf Cars Unlimited

Business is booming and we’re expanding to better serve you

Golf cars are popular, and not only at the golf course. People in some communities are using them for short trips to save time and energy. A golf cart is a must for coordinating a large event. And, they’re great for transporting workers, tools and materials on job sites.

Golf Cars Unlimited, located at 5606 Common St. in Lake Charles, is expanding its sales, maintenance, repair and “build-out” business to keep up with the demand.

“When Tom Kersch decided to close and sell Professional Automotive, right next door, we bought it,” said Mike Heinen, Golf Cars Unlimited owner. “We’ve already started working over there. We put up a new sign just last week.”

“Now we can spread out,” he said. “With the addition of this space, we not only have a larger service area, but we also have increased storage for the items we need to service and build up carts. “

The additional space gives Heinen and his crew five new work bays and four lifts.

“The summer is the busiest time of the year for the golf car business,” Heinen said. “Some shops can take months to do a repair during peak season,” Heinen said “We’re currently managing to serve our

customers in week or days. With the new space, I anticipate being able to serve customers even better.”

At the back of the property, little will change. That’s where Heinen keeps hundreds of used and new models to choose from, including haulers, all-terrain and multi-functioning cars. Gas and electric models are available with two, four, six or more seats, which can make it possible to haul an entire work crew to the project site comfortably and economically.

Golf Cars Unlimited accepts trade-ins of certainw models, and his pre-owned prices begin as low as $1,500. Certain new and customized models are priced as high as $18,000. Financing is available for qualified applicants.

“People who visit for the first time are surprised to find that we have much more to choose from than a few showroom models and the five or six cars we may have out front,” said Heinen.

Parts and accessories include seats, utility boxes and hitches. Fender flares keep mud and debris thrown from oversized tires off passengers. Lift kits, tires, wheels, and camouflage everything is available at Golf Cars Unlimited.

“Customers are free to decide on the color, body style, bumper type, lift kit, seat upholstery – whatever they want,” Heinen said. “We can often build it in as little as a couple of days.”

Ninety-day warranties are available for all pre-owned models. Models with new batteries include a two-year prorated battery warranty.

Curious about why the name of the business is Golf Cars and not Golf Carts?

“My daughter gives me a hard time about that all the time,” Heinen said. “Part of the reason is because of the Club Car brand name. They chose car rather than cart because they said you pull a cart, but you drive a car. The other reason is, the business was already named when I purchased it ten years ago.”

Whether you call it a car or a cart doesn’t matter. The important thing is to ensure your car is purchased from someone you can trust, Heinen said. Golf Cars Unlimited is a family owned and operated local business with a 10-year history of customer-focused service.w

“Ask plenty of questions and know how to determine the model year of your purchase,” Heinen said. “Make sure you get what you pay for and that you will be 100 percent comfortable with your decision.”
