JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Zachary Owings hit a bases-clearing triple in the third inning, leading the GCL Marlins to a 9-3 win over the GCL Cardinals on Thursday.

The triple by Owings came in the midst of a six-run inning and gave the GCL Marlins a 5-1 lead. Later in the inning, Rodrigo Vigil hit an RBI single, driving in Owings.

Following the big inning, the GCL Cardinals cut into the deficit in the next half-inning when Jean Selmo and Freddy De Jesus scored on an error.

Matt Givin (5-0) got the win in relief while GCL Cardinals starter Nathanael Heredia (5-3) took the loss in the Gulf Coast League game.
