The McNeese State men's basketball team has gone to the Bluegrass State in pursuit of potential prospects for the Class of 2020.
McNeese State reportedly offered Bardstown (Ky.) power forward Jayden "J.J." Traynor a scholarship.
Traynor is 6-foot-8 and also lists offers from Akron, Northern Kentucky, Ball State and Western Kentucky.
Although his team finished 15-16 last season, Traynor did help lead his team to a district championship and a playoff berth.
JUST VISITING: At least two high school prospects have announced via social media that they will visit McNeese on Monday.
Both are Class of 2020 prospects from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex: Hebron High (Carrollton, Texas) outside linebacker Carter Norrie and Plano East defensive end K'von Hamilton.
Norrie does not have any offers listed on his social media accounts, but he reportedly visited Southland Conference rival Sam Houston State. As a junior, he recorded 130 tackles (71 solo) with 5.5 sacks and was named all-district and all-state. Norrie helped lead the Hawks to the playoffs.
Hamilton has listed offers from the Naval Academy and Division II Northwestern Oklahoma State. The three-sport athlete also plays lacrosse and runs track and field. Hamilton helped lead his team to the playoffs.
TIME CHANGE: There was a time change made to one of McNeese's road football games. The Oct. 12 game at Central Arkansas was moved to a 4 p.m. start. The game was initially scheduled for 6 p.m.
Four of McNeese's last seven games will start at 4 p.m. with the other three starting at 3 p.m.
