BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A corrections officer at a Louisiana prison has been placed on leave and faces multiple charges in connection with drug possession at the prison, the state Department of Corrections said Monday.

The department news release said Dameesha Johnson, 28, of Baton Rouge was arrested after fellow corrections officers at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center discovered the drugs Saturday during a shift change. Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Johnson.

Charges include taking contraband to or from a prison and malfeasance in office. The department said she had been employed at Hunt since April 2017 and holds the rank of master sergeant.
