Lake Charles firefighters responded to a fire at a Church Street house Monday. District Fire Chief Alvin Washington said the house had been empty for some time.

The cause of the fire is not known but it is now under investigation, he said. Firefighters were notified of the blaze at 12:05 p.m.

The house is located on the section of Church Street just east of Albert Street.
