A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 14 near Prien Lake Road early Tuesday morning and local authorities are looking for the vehicle believed to responsible.

According to a Lake Charles Police Department news release, the pedestrian was walking westbound across Highway 14 toward the Touch Down convenience store located at 3216 Highway 14 at 1:40 a.m. when he was hit by an unknown 4-door vehicle, traveling in the outside lane southbound on Highway 14. The vehicle left the scene of the crash.

Authorities said the pedestrian, who died at the scene, was a white male. His identity has not been released.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus, LCPD spokesperson, said there is video of the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
