With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret A. Baker McGuffee, affectionately known as Maggie, Grandma, Gree, or Nana on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, in Lake Charles, La.

Maggie was a woman known for her nurturing spirit and her remarkable green thumb. She had a special way with plants, and her gardens flourished under her care. A devoted lover of animals, Maggie’s bond with her dog was unbreakable. Molly, Cassie, Little Bear, Bubba, and Maddie were her cherished “babies,” and they were never far from her side. Her connection to them went beyond the ordinary, and they brought her immeasurable joy and comfort throughout her life.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, George H. Baker Jr. and Donnie Marie Baker; her son, Daniel A. Landry Jr., and her granddaughter, Alexandra D. Landry. She leaves behind a sister, Carol (Keith) Zembower; a brother, David (Rosalyn) Baker; her sons, Kevin (Cheri) Landry, and Kristopher (Amaris) Stracener; her granddaughter, Paige Stracener, and her two step-grandchildren, Gaby and Ethan Phillips.

While Maggie may no longer be physically with us, her spirit and love live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her nurturing touch, her kindness, and her sense of humor will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain forever alive in the gardens she tended, the hearts she touched, and the laughter she shared.
