The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Facility Management team has been working to upgrade, strengthen and build more resilient structures across the parish. These ongoing improvements enhance the safety and durability of parish buildings and parks and lead to reduction on insurance premiums and improved coverage.
“We have talented people who are always looking for ways to make the most of taxpayer dollars. This is a big win, and I want folks to know about it,” said CPPJ President Judd Bares. “Thank you to our incredible facilities and insurance teams for your dedication and hard work.”
“By enhancing the safety and resilience of our buildings and parks, CPPJ’s Facility Management team is reducing insurance costs and minimizing potential storm damage,” said Laura Bolton, CPPJ Insurance Director. “These efforts have led to a 24.2% annualized reduction in insurance premiums, resulting in a financial benefit of $1,018,448 for this year’s coverage.”
By implementing hurricane-resistant designs, reinforcing critical infrastructure, and incorporating advanced materials, CPPJ’s facilities are now better equipped to withstand severe weather events. In addition to improving overall safety, these enhancements will make post-storm repairs faster and more cost-effective. These efforts contribute to long-term cost savings and reflect the Parish’s dedication to financial stewardship.
“Our commitment to resilience is paying off in multiple ways,” said Dean Kelly, facility management director. “We’re making our facilities stronger and safer for the community, and we’re seeing tangible financial benefits through reduced insurance costs and better coverage.”
