Katherine Daigle Roshto, age 85, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 9 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her family at a local care facility.
Katherine Marie Roshto was born Aug. 7, 1939 in Lacassine, La. to John and Rena Belle Corbello Daigle, the oldest of nine children. She was raised and enjoyed her young life growing up on a rice farm. She was a graduate of Lacassine High School where she played basketball.
Shortly after graduation, she married Joe McComb, who is the father of her five children. Katherine followed her husband’s military career as he proudly served our country throughout the United States and the Philippine Islands.
Following his retirement, they settled back in Lake Charles where she began working for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, as a cafeteria worker at several different schools. She had always been an excellent cook for her children and now found joy in cooking for the children of Lake Charles. At her last school, the principal stated that he would miss her cooking. Katherine retired with 20 years of service and memories of countless children she helped to make feel special.
She had a second chance at love and married a wonderful man, Huey Roshto. Together they had a small farm where they raised horses and different small animals. They also had a large garden and shared their abundance of produce with family and friends.
They lived a simple life, with lots of love, laughter and good times throughout their 10 years together. She said goodbye far too soon upon his passing.
Mrs. Roshto was a member of Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church where she taught CCD classes for a few years.
Katherine had a welcoming spirit and generous heart, often giving her time, love, a place to lay your head and have great meals.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Zelda Weintraut and husband, Phil, Sandra Fertitta and husband, Anthony and Tonya Kay Stutes; one son, John McComb; stepdaughter, Paula Miller and husband, Jeff; one brother, Charles “Dennis” Daigle and wife, Shirley; two sisters, Judy Richard and husband, Michael and Linda Arthur; four grandchildren, Brady Stutes, Devin Stutes, Jessica Lominac and Kayla Marie Roshto, and six great-grandchildren, Cade Brasher, Asher Stutes, Evelyn Keeney, Ezra Stutes, Jackson Klein and William Klein.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Huey Roshto; son, Joseph W. McComb Jr.; parents; four brothers, and one sister.
A Mass Christian burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Josh Page will officiate. Interment services will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
